Course Information

This course has been designed for both individuals who are completely new to UX or have some design experience and ones who have already started working in UX.

The focus is to teach you to think like a UX designer, build your confidence to work in the domain and to equip you with job-ready skills and a portfolio of work.

Upon successful course completion, you will not only become a certified UX professional, but will have a university credit-rated and globally recognised diploma (this diploma programme is Glasgow Caledonian University credit-rated).

About the University / School

The UX Design Institute is a global leader in UX education and certification. Their mission is to bridge the worldwide skills gap in UX design and to provide a career pathway for UX professionals wishing to start their professional path in UX design or gain more expertise by undertaking UI design course. 

 

Learning format

The programme consists of 11modules, projects and final exam. Modules include: Introduction to UX design, User research, Analysis techniques, Structure and navigation, Interactions, Design principles, Design patterns, Workflows, Mobile, Prototyping and handover, Creating your portfolio.

Learning process:

You will learn through following high-definition video lectures, accessing the downloadable course material, submitting guided, step-by-step project work, developing your own portfolio, and participating in webinars with industry experts.

Assessment:

There is 2 step assessment process in pace.  40% of your overall assessment will be based on the projects (16 projects out of which 12 are compulsory) and research, developmet and prototyping website or mobile app.

Remaining 60% of your overall assessment will be based on the final exam. The exam is conducted online, it can be taken from any place you wish, it takes 2 hours and is monitored and observed by an external examination company.

 

The ultimate goal of this course is to connect you to the industry to ensure a smooth career start. To make this happen, you will be provided with continuous expert advice and constructive feedback from your course mentor. Furthermore, you will be invited to build up your expertise learning about the latest industry landscape in UX Insider live events.

The dedicated Careers Team will assist you in transitioning from UX student to UX professional, preparing you for the UX jobs interview and guiding you through the hiring process, offering one-on-one sessions and portfolio advice.

 

Entry requirements

Students are admitted to the programme on a case-by-case basis based on individual motivation, English language fluency and professional background.

As much as there is no experience in design or technology needed in order to join the course, having one or both is a definite bonus. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, including project management, development, graphic design, product management, and business analysis.

  1. Motivation

A candidate needs to be motivated and committed. Studying for this professional qualification requires a certain amount of time, energy and focus. Students are offered continuous support along every step of their journey but success will come as a result of your own diligence and commitment.

  1. English language

A candidate needs to be comfortable with learning in English. All video lessons, course materials, webinars, correspondence and the final exam are delivered in English. Despite there is no formal prerequisite for an English language proficiency exam, a candidate needs to be comfortable enough to study in English.
