Resource Development International (RDI), the forerunner of Arden University, was established in 1990 with a mission of providing distance learning programmes. It received degree awarding powers in April 2014 and a year later was awarded with university status.

Arden was the first distance learning university to launch in the United Kingdom since the founding of the Open University in 1969.

In August 2015 it was relaunched as Arden university. The mission of Arden university is to help students to shape the future of business. Arden students range from 18 to 80 years old and can study both on campus and online.

From January 2016, the previous externally validated degree programmes under RDI were gradually phased out and replaced by Arden's own degree programmes.

Arden has supported more than 50,000 students through online and blended learning programmes, which has seen them develop into experts in career-ready online distance learning provision.

Since all courses of Arden university come with a strong focus on employability - their accreditation or approval by professional bodies is crucial for making sure earned qualifications meet industry standards, and are valued by employers globally.

BPS - The British Psychological Society is the representative body for Psychology and Psychologists in the United Kingdom, responsible for the development, promotion and application of Psychology for the public good. Two or Arden programmes BSc (Hons) Psychology and MSc Psychology are accredited by the BPS.

CIM - The Chartered Institute of Marketing is the world’s largest organisation for professional marketers. Arden’s MSc Data Analytics and Marketing and MA Strategic Marketing are both CIM accredited.

CIPD - The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is a professional body which sets the industry standards for HR and people development. Upon completion of MA Human Resource Management (CIPD approved) programme, you’ll get an Advanced Level 7 qualification in Human Resource Management, and Associate Member status.

CMI - The Chartered Management Institute promotes excellence in UK management and leadership. Arden offers a number of courses accredited by the CMI including Undergraduate Business courses and an MBA.
