About the University of Utah
The University of Utah also called U of U or simply The U is a public research university in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the flagship institution of the Utah System of Higher Education. Established in 1850 as the University of Deseret, it is the oldest institution of higher education. Current name was received in 1892.
The University of Utah is accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities since 1933. The University of Utah is dedicated to innovation, quality of life, and creating global leaders. The University of Utah offers 150 academic departments and programs grouped in 17 colleges and schools.
The University operates on a semester calendar with the rest of the Utah higher education system.
