Course Information

This master degree programme will equip you with a set of analytical skills and knowledge that will enable you to critically think, talk and write about contemporary international issues. It will also offer a strong and solid foundation for further studies allowing you to formulate answers to thought-provokingdiscussions, debates and ideas exchange between you, your peer students and academics.

Learning format

This postgraduate programme has been designed to highlight the necessity of theory to understanding world politics. Its core modules include:

  • Contemporary World Politics: Theories, Concepts, Themes
  • War and International Security
  • Themes and Cases in US Foreign Policy
  • Globalization and the International Political Economy of Development
  • Dissertation

The aim of this programme is to challenge you to develop your analytical skills and subject knowledge further. It is expected from the student to gain expertise within areas such as international security, international political economy, and the impact of the changes associated with globalization on the study of international relations and US foreign policy.

This programme offers 3 award options:

  • MSc International Public Policy – requires accomplishing 4 modules and dissertation
  • PGDip International Public Policy – requires accomplishing 4 modules without dissertation
  • PGCert International Public Policy – requires accomplishing 2 modules

Discussion forums will encourage you to interact with your peers, sharing opinions and debating current topics and issues in your field. You will also have the chance to engage with members of the academic team during regular webinars.

Entry requirements

In order to qualify for the programme, the following criteria need to be met:

  • A minimum of an upper second-class honours degree in politics or a related discipline
  • IELTS 7.0 (including 6.5 in the writing component) if your first language is not English
