The MSc in Global Public Health offered by Queen Mary University of London is part of a wider programme of study within the Barts and London School of Medicine and Dentistry, directed by a multidisciplinary team of academics from the Institute of Population Health Sciences (IPHS).

The main focus of the Institute of Population Health Sciences (IPHS) is to enhance the health system across local, national and global populations by undertaking world class research and training. IPHS mainly concentrates on the following four areas of expertise: Primary Care and Mental Health, Global Public Health, Women’s Health, Clinical Trials and Methodology, and these will be incorporated to your studies.

Learning format

This online Master degree programme in Global Public Health provides same level of qualifications and engagement quality as programme delivered in a traditional way on-campus, without fixed time or study place restrictions.  

Modules taught have been designed by leading academics and professionals and are delivered by online tutors, who are you’re your primary contact for any academic queries. Online Tutors use video and online presentations to deliver lectures, and provide links to any additional resources and study materials, some of them being downloadable.

Student interaction is being encouraged via webinars and discussions organized on weekly basis. These are forums for opinion and experience sharing purposes, discussions on study material and debates about current topics and issues.

Apart from activities involving groups, students are also assessed based on individual study guided weekly.

Entry requirements

In order to qualify for the programme, the following requirements need to be met:


• A 2.1 honours degree or international equivalent in a relevant subject, such as medicine, the health sciences, nursing or the social sciences.

If English is not your first language, you will also need:
• IELTS 7.0 including 6.5 in Writing or equivalent For students with a less directly-related undergraduate degree, we may consider your application if you can demonstrate a genuine interest in and motivation to study global public health.
