Course Information

Psychology is a field of research focusing on the mechanism of human thinking and actioning, feeling and reacting on things we as human beings experience. Individuals practicing psychology offer support to people struggling with mental issues transforming lives.

Psychology programmes, including ones offered by the University of Liverpool’s MSC in Psychology, are the ideal learning pathway to a psychology career, providing the essential tools and skillsets required to become a psychologist.

This programme focuses on comprehensive understanding of biological, developmental, cognitive and social psychology, understanding psychological principles and their effects.

This programme has been designed with full support of prestigious research groups in the Department of Psychology, taking into consideration diversity and cross-culturalism bearing in mind the international character of The University of Liverpool. A global, open-minded perspective can be achieved through promoting discussion forums with classmates from all around the world, offering students the opportunity to learn from diverse experiences, backgrounds and contexts.

A unique learning format of this programme is based on a concept of an action-based learning, which focuses on assessment entirely through written assignment and challenges students to apply discussed theories to solve real-world problems within own working and social environment. Furthermore, students are required to create an online portfolio of evidence, which can be used as a vehicle to showcase own project-based work, personal achievements and resume details.

The culminating moment of this study involves conducting an independent research dissertation on a psychological issue of your choice and applying theory to practice, to help students to establish themselves as aspiring psychologists.

Completing this programme alone does not allow practicing as psychologist in the United Kingdom, however, it provides the core foundational knowledge of the discipline and it’s the first step toward a career in the field.
